This rustic casita sits deep within the Chama Wilderness (the only privately owned property in the area) on the site of an early 1900s, 400-acre homestead. It's one of three vacation rentals in the canyon.
The rental includes a large bedroom with a queen bed, a fully equipped kitchen and dining area, a living room with a queen sofa bed, a bathroom, and a spacious deck with lounge chairs, barbecue, and a dining table and chairs. A path leads from the casita to the private sleeping deck: two full beds, pillows, chairs, and a 200-degree view of the canyon.

Good to know
- Please remove your shoes before entering the casita. You may want to bring slippers.
- You're welcome to bring a swimsuit and a picnic lunch and spend the day at the community pond. We provide beach towels.
- Shop for all your food, drink, and snacks before you arrive. The nearest store is 35 miles away.
- Four-wheel drive isn't necessary, but low-clearance vehicles (a Mini Cooper, for instance) aren't recommended.
- Please leave all gates as you find them.
- Radios and cell phones do not work in the canyon.
The casita is close to the Rio Chama, near its confluence with the Rio Gallina, in the remote Chama Wilderness of northern New Mexico.
Before you arrive
- A signed waiver is required from every person in your party.
- Please don't fry food on the inside stove. There is an outside barbeque with a stove stove for that.
- Fires and smoking are prohibited in the canyon due to the extreme fire risk.
- We love pets, but Ranch Casita isn't set up for them. Dogs are welcome at the Anasazi cabin and the Wilderness Jacal.
- No hunting.
- Check-in is 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Check-out is 11:00 AM.
- No extra charge for additional nights if heavy rain prevents you from leaving on schedule.
